- Torsion spring
The door feels like it weighs a ton to lift by hand, or won’t stay up on its own.
- Cable drum
The door hangs crooked, with one corner sitting lower than the other.
- Lift cable
A cable looks frayed, or has already snapped, and the door won’t move safely.
- Horizontal track
The door binds, or jumps its rails partway through the cycle.
- Roller and hinge
A loud grinding or popping sound every time the door opens or closes.
- Manual release cord
The red pull that lets you lift the door by hand when the power is out.
- Opener rail
The chain or belt slaps, or the trolley slips and the door stops halfway.
- Opener and sensors
The motor hums but nothing moves, or the door reverses with nothing in the way.

Broward County sits inside Florida’s High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. Palm Beach County sits in the Wind-Borne Debris Region instead. The two are related but separate sets of rules, with different requirements for a garage door.

Questions people ask before calling
Why did my garage door spring break?
A standard torsion spring is rated for about 10,000 cycles. That’s roughly 3 to 10 years of normal use, less on a door opened many times a day.
Can I text a photo of the door instead of calling?
Yes. Text it to (561) 645-7806. A photo of the spring, the cable or the whole door from inside the garage helps Eric tell what broke before he drives out.
Do you install doors and openers, or only repair them?
Both: new doors and openers as well as repairs, on Craftsman, Chamberlain, LiftMaster, Genie, Amarr, Clopay and Northwest Door hardware.
Do I need a permit to replace a garage door in Florida?
In most of Broward and Palm Beach County, yes. Palm Beach County’s own brochure carves overhead doors out of its no-permit list. Boca Raton offers a same-day, over-the-counter permit instead.
